‘Daddy Issues’
Exploring the grief and trauma that comes with holding a father wound, this series is an offering to my inner child. Through this work I am spending time with the father I always wanted but never had, the painting process itself giving me a chance to sit and reflect, to sort through thoughts and feelings, and to offer myself the type of childhood imagery I always longed for.
This highly personal work is supported by the widespread social epidemic of absent fathers, wounded women, and lost men.
The title ‘Daddy Issues’ is used in irony, a sharp jab at the gaslighting and misogyny that is sat within those very words.
